DTC Troubleshooting: 2-4

DTC 2-4:  Short to Power in Front Passenger's Airbag Inflator


Special Tools Required
SRS inflator simulator (  07SAZ-TB4011A)
 

SRS simulator lead C (  07TAZ-SZ5011A)
 



1.Erase the DTC memory.

2.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

Does the SRS indicator stay on?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures.


3.Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

4.Disconnect the P1o connector from the P1i connector (A).

 

5.Connect the special tool (2 W connector) to the P1i connector (A).

6.Reconnect the battery negative cable.

7.Erase the DTC memory.

8.Read the DTC.

Is DTC 2-4 indicated?


YES - Go to 9.


NO - Short to power in the front passenger's airbag inflator; replace the front passenger's airbag.n


9.Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

10.Disconnect the U1o connector (A) from the SRS unit.

 

11.Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator (special tool) from the SRS simulator lead C.

12.Turn the ignition switch ON (ll).

13.Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator (special tool) from the SRS simulator lead C.

14.Check for voltage between the A terminal of the SRS simulator lead C (special tool) and body ground, between the B terminal and body ground. There should be 0.5 V or less.

 

Is the voltage as specified?


YES - Faulty  SRS unit; replace the SRS unit.n


NO - Replace the dashboard wire harness.n
