DTC Troubleshooting: 1-3

DTC 1-3:  Short to Another Wire or Decreased Resistance in Driver's Airbag Inflator


Special Tools Required
SRS inflator simulator (  07SAZ-TB4011A)
 

SRS simulator lead C (  07TAZ-SZ5011A)
 



1.Erase the DTC memory.

2.Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

Does the SRS indicator stay on?


YES - Go to 3.


NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Go to Troubleshooting Intermittent Failures.


3.Turn the ignition switch OFF. Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

4.Disconnect the D1o connector from the D1i connector (A).

 

5.Connect the special tool (2 W connector) to the D1i connector (A).

6.Reconnect the battery negative cable.

7.Erase the DTC memory.

8.Read the DTC.

Is DTC 1-3 indicated?


YES - Go to 9.


NO - Short in the driver's airbag; replace the driver's airbag.n


9.Disconnect the battery negative cable, and wait for 3 minutes.

10.Disconnect the U1o connector (A) from the SRS unit.

 

11.Disconnect the SRS inflator simulator (special tool) from the SRS simulator lead C.

12.Check resistance between the A and B terminals of the SRS simulator lead C (special tool). There should be 1 MW or more.

 

Is the resistance as specified?


YES - Go to 13.


NO - Replace the cable reel.n

13.Install the special tool (070AZ-SAA0100) to No. 3 and No. 4 terminals of the U1o connector.

14.Check resistance between the A and B terminals of the SRS simulator lead C (special tool). There should be 1 MW or more.

 

Is the resistance as specified?


YES - Replace the the SRS unit.n


NO - Replace the dashboard wire harness.n
