Clutch Pedal and Clutch Position Switch Adjustment

NOTE:
  • Remove the driver's side floor mat before adjusting the clutch pedal.
  • With cruise control: Cruise control, check the clutch pedal position switch.
  • Without cruise control: The adjusting bolt is substituted as clutch pedal position switch.
    The clutch pedal height adjustment is same procedure as with the clutch pedal position switch.
  • If there is no clearance between the master cylinder piston and push rod, the release bearing will be held against the diaphragm spring, which can result in clutch slippage or other clutch problems.
  1. Disconnect the clutch pedal position switch connector.
  1. Loosen the clutch pedal position switch locknut (A), and back off the clutch pedal position switch (B), it no longer touches the clutch pedal switch pad (C).
  1. Loosen pushrod locknut (D), and turn the push rod (E) in or out to get the specified height (F), and the stroke (G) at the clutch pedal.
    Clutch Pedal Height (F):
    RHD model:
    145 mm (5.71 in.)
    LHD model:
    150 mm (5.91 in.)

    Clutch Pedal Stroke (G):
    120−130 mm (4.72−5.12 in.)


  1. Tighten the clutch pushrod locknut (A).
  1. With the clutch pedal released, turn in the clutch pedal position switch (B) until it contacts the clutch pedal.
  1. Turn in the clutch pedal position switch an additional 3/4 to 1 turn.
  1. While holding the clutch pedal position switch, tighten the locknut (C).
  1. Connect the clutch pedal position switch connector.
