Intake Manifold Chamber Removal and Installation

Removal
  1. Remove the engine wire harness connectors and wire harness clamps from the intake manifold chamber.
    • Throttle actuator connector
    • Manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor connector
  1. Remove the brake booster vacuum hose (A) and the harness clamp (B).
  1. Remove the water bypass hose from the clamp (C).
  1. Remove the throttle body without disconnecting the water bypass hoses.
  1. Remove the intake manifold bracket mounting bolts.

L13Z1 engine
L12B1 engine
  1. Remove the intake manifold chamber.
Installation
  1. Install the intake manifold chamber (A) with a new gaskets (B), and tighten the bolts in a crisscross pattern in three steps, beginning with the inner bolt.
  1. With L15A7 engine: Loosen the intake manifold bracket mounting bolt (A), (B). Tighten the mounting bolts (C), then tighten the mounting bolt (A). Loosely tighten the mounting bolt (D), and tighten the mounting bolt (B), then tighten the mounting bolt (D).
  1. With L13Z1 engine, L12B1 engine: Loosen the intake manifold bracket mounting bolt (A). Tighten the mounting bolts (B), then tighten the mounting bolt (A).
  1. Install the throttle body (A) with a new gasket (B).
  1. Install the water bypass hose to the clamp (A).
  1. Install the brake booster vacuum hose (B) and the harness clamp (C).
  1. Install the engine wire harness connectors and wire harness clamps to the intake manifold chamber.
    • Throttle actuator connector
    • MAP sensor connector
