DTC Troubleshooting: P19E9 (131-1)

DTC P19E9:
 Brake Pedal Position Signal Malfunction (from ECM by Signal Line)
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Press and release the brake pedal continuously for at least 2 minutes.
  1. With the brake pedal released, check the BRAKE PEDAL POSITION SWITCH AND SIGNAL in the DATA LIST with the HDS.
Does it indicate ON?
YES -
Repair a short to ground in the wire between the ECM (A28) and the TCM (A35).■
NO -
Go to Step 4 .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Disconnect the clutch actuator subharness 10P connector from the engine compartment wire harness.
  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
  1. Measure voltage between clutch actuator subharness 10P connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Repair a short to power in the wire between the ECM (A28) and the TCM (A35).■
NO -
Go to Step 8 .
  1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
  1. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.
  1. Disconnect ECM connector A (49P).

  1. Check for continuity between ECM connector terminal A28 and clutch actuator subharness 10P connector terminal No. 3.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Remove the clutch actuator assembly, and check for clutch actuator subharness. If the wire harness is OK, substitute a known-good TCM, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away with a known-good TCM, replace the original TCM.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the ECM (A28) and the clutch actuator subharness.■
