DTC P250B:
Engine Oil Level Sensor Range/Performance Problem
NOTE:

When you check this DTC troubleshooting, carry out in a flat place.
-
Check the engine oil level and condition, before checking this DTC troubleshooting.
-
Start the engine. Hold the engine speed at 3,000 rpm (min
−1
) without load (in neutral) until the radiator fan comes on, then let it idle.
-
Check the ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE in the DATA LIST with the HDS.
Is 50 °C (122 °F) or more indicated?

YES

NO
|

|
Keep idling until the value of ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE becomes 50 °C (122 °F) or more, then go to
Step 3
.

Check the ENGINE OIL LEVEL MONITOR CONDITION in the DATA LIST with the HDS.
YES
|
-
|
|
NO
|
-
|
Keep idling until the screen indicates ‘‘OK'', then go to
Step 4
.
|
-
Maintain idling for 2 minutes.
-
Note the value of ENGINE OIL LEVEL in the DATA LIST with the HDS.
-
Stop the engine, but stop the ignition switch with ON (II) position.
-
Wait 5 minutes.
-
Check the ENGINE OIL LEVEL in the DATA LIST with the HDS.
-
Compare the value of ENGINE OIL LEVEL and the recorded value of ENGINE OIL LEVEL.
Does the value of ENGINE OIL LEVEL differ 2 mm (0.08 in.) or more?

YES

|
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check the engine oil level and condition.■

NO
|

|
|

-
Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
-
Reset the ECM with the HDS.
-
-
Check for Temporary DTCs or DTCs with the HDS.
YES
|
-
|
Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the engine oil level sensor and the ECM, then go to
Step 1
.

NO
|
-
|
Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Temporary DTCs or DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.■
