| 1. | Loosen the locknut (A), then remove the rack guide screw (B), wave washers (LHD only) (C), plane washer (LHD only) (D), spring (E), and rack guide (F) from the steering gearbox.

| 2. | Remove the O-ring (G) from the rack guide, and discard it. |
| 3. | Coat the new O-ring with grease, and carefully fit it on the rack guide screw groove. |
| 4. | Grease the sliding surface and circumference of the rack guide, and install it onto the gearbox housing. Wipe the grease off the threaded section (H) of the housing. |
| 5. | Install the plane washer (LHD only), wave washers (LHD only) and spring, onto the rack guide. |
| 6. | Apply sealant to the threads on the rack guide screw, then install and tighten it to 25 N·m (2.5 kgf·m, 18 lbf·ft). Loosely install the locknut. |
| 7. | Adjust rack guide screw. After adjusting, check that the rack moves smoothly by sliding it right and left. |
