Breather Line and Suction Line Inspection

1.Remove the access panel from the floor.

2.Disconnect the suction hose (A) form the fuel pump, and connect a vacuum pump (B).

 

3.Start the engine, and check the vacuum.

Is there Vacuum?


YES - Go to 4.


NO - Replace the fuel filter.n


4.Turn the ignition switch OFF.

5.Connect a vacuum pump (A) to the suction hose, and apply vacuum to the hose (B).

 

Does the hold vacuum?


YES -

  • Check the blockage on the suction line.
  • Replace the 3-way joint.n


NO - Go to 6.

6.Disconnect the breather hose (A) of the filler side from the 3-way joint (B), and set the rubber cap (C) to the 3-way joint.

 

7.Connect a vacuum pump (A) to the suction hose, and apply vacuum to the hose (B).

 

Does the hold vacuum?


YES - Check the blockage between the 3-way joint and the fuel tank vapor liquid separation Valve on the breather line. If line is OK, replace the fuel tank.n


NO - Go to 8.


8.Connect a vacuum pump (A) to the breather hose (B) of the filler side, and apply vacuum.

 

Does the hold vacuum?


YES - Check the blockage between the 3-way joint and the filler neck on the breather line.n


NO - Go to 9.


9.Remove the rubber cap from the 3-way joint, and reconnect the breather hose to the 3-way joint.

10.Connect a vacuum pump (A) to the suction hose (B), and apply air pressure to the hose.

 

Does the hold air pressure?


YES - The breather line and the suction line are OK.n


NO -

  • Check the vacuum leak on the suction hose.
  • Replace the 3-way joint.n
